After scraping into the vault final at the Australian Gymnastics Championships Steph Magiros has performed superbly to finish second.

Steph, from Sydney, claimed the silver (13.937) behind West Australian Emily Little (14.937) with Maddi Leydin from Victoria picking up the bronze.

Why are we talking about gymnastics in a snowsports blog?

Well, if you didn’t read the previous post and aren’t aware Steph was a semi-finalist in snowboard halfpipe at the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Her first love was gymnastics but she left the sport to pursue her white dream. Now she’s back and after little more than a year’s training she’s picked up a silver medal at the nationals.

That in turn gives her a realistic shot at making the 2016 Summer Olympics. If she does Steph would be the firs Australian to go back-to-back in summer/winter Games and only the third to do it all.

Given the limited preparation you’d have to think things can only getter better.
