Want to impress your better half but still reward yourself with a great prize this week?

Well, you can with a fantastic his and hers helmet and goggle prize from our good friends at Giro.

As always it’s as simple as signing up to our weekly newsletter (new and existing subscribers eligible) and reading on for a little more info here.

The pack is a cracker (hmmm, would it be immoral to sign-up myself?) and includes the following:

– Men’s Giro Discord Helmet and Giro Basis Goggle
– Women’s Giro Lure Helmet and Giro Field Goggle

The Discord is a popular option for those that like to hit parks and backcountry but is suitable for all riders. With an impact-absorbing dual-density liner and flexible outer shell it combines seamlessly with the Basis Goggle.

Like its counterpart the Montane, the women’s Lure is built feather-light while also offering exceptional fit and has crucial functions like adjustable Thermostat Control Adjustable Venting. Plush earpads and a playful colour palette add extra style points to this all-terrain performer.

I’ve made my thoughts pretty clear on helmet usage here before. I’m very much into personal choice – that is not forcing people – but my personal choice is for myself and my children to wear them.

Off the back of the above linked story I received an interesting response by way of a detailed report from the American National Ski Areas Association. For mine the key take-away was this:

“Recent research has shown that the use of helmet reduces the incidence of any head injury by 30 to 50 percent, but that the decrease in head injuries is generally limited to the less serious injuries.”

So – a helmet may not save your life but it may well save you from a concussion. More than enough reason to wear one in my books.
