Win REX flights to Albury, Cooma!
It’s usually just outside Canberra on the way back from a two or three day trip to the snow that I ask myself the question: why didn’t I fly?
While I have done more than my share of road trips to both the NSW Snowy Mountains and Victorian Alps from Sydney there is something about flying that sits rather nicely with me.
It’s something to do with not feeling exhausted (there or on the way back), cutting a good chunk out of your travel time and not having to deal with thousands of people in their cars who have exactly the same idea of having a cheeky few days down the snow.
In celebration of such things our good friends at Regional Expresss (REX) have ponied up with four return airfares – two each from Sydney to Cooma and another two from Melbourne to Albury!
If you weren’t already aware REX filled a big hole in 2016 by starting a Sydney-Cooma service which had been vacant since 2013 when the previous carrier shut down.
It’s a hugely important service for the Monaro region that runs all year but is obviously pretty keenly used throughout winter by Sydneysiders.
At the moment there’s morning flights seven days a week that leave at 8am from Sydney and arrive in Cooma at 9.05am. But the real bonus is the 2.25pm extra flight on Friday and 5.05pm Sunday. With connections they’ll ensure you can be comfortably enjoying dinner on snow in either Perisher or Thredbo that night.
Of course REX has been a stalwart in the Melbourne to Albury sector too and continues to run up to four flights each way a day on the popular route.
In winter it opens the door for a trip to either Falls Creek or Mt Hotham, while chopping a couple of hours off your driving time.
Both sets of giveaway airfares are valid until 31 December 2017 and are unrestricted (pending availability).
