Description
Here is a short video we made for aspiring young traditional musicians thinking of applying to the BA Scottish Music (and Scottish Music - Piping) degree programme. It features the co-ordinators of the main practical modules and gives some snapshot insights into the work of the programme and the many opportunities it brings to our students.
Studying at the Royal Conservatoire, you will encounter a dynamic mix of practical performance work, balanced with a strong contextual element, including the study of history, traditional music theory and composition, the Gaelic and Scots languages and their relationship to song; coupled with unique links to the Scottish live performance scene. You will have opportunities to perform at the world-famous Celtic Connections festival and to organise your own UK tours. You will benefit from educational and performance-based links with the National Piping Centre, Sabhal Mor Ostaig, the European Network of Folk Orchestras, the World Irish Academic of Music and Dance, Feis Rois and Erasmus links with traditional and folk music institutions across Europe, Scandinavia and North America.
