Description
NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Catch 108) Out of Los Angeles, this release from January 1964 is one of the many efforts of singer/songwriter, RICKIE PAGE and husband GEORGE MOTOLA. (The melody of 'I Won't Play Second Fiddle' is a reworking of the tune, 'Im In Love' previously recorded by The Pentagons on Jamie Records which George Motola, Lee Silver and Lester Sill were producers). Rickie Page sang under many different names including this one credited as Sheila North. Rickie's daughters and other family members were often at the sessions singing background vocals as well. Miss Page, who was working among the movers and shakers in the music biz in Hollywood during the late 50's and 60's is an under rated, extremely musically gifted artist.
In a 2014 interview with Rickie Page regarding this record she remembered: ".....the name 'Sheila North' was chosen because I think I had a record out at the time on the Rendezvous label as Ricky Page, therefore, I used my oldest daughters first name and grabbed 'North' out of the air.....'Sheila North'......good name. As far as the song? I was merely stating my feelings, musically & literally, but that's as far as I'll go. Being older and wiser now, I find it very interesting. My life has been one fantastic journey and not over yet. I'm getting ready to record an album of songs I've written I feel like I'm in my forties, look like I'm in my sixties, sound like I'm in my thirties. So life is good!"
