What nobody told me about giving birth in a hospital is that it can be a beautiful and positive experience.

Yes there are so many stories (I have one of my own) of feeling powerless during birth but birth can also be natural and beautiful in a hospital.

I really encourage people to learn about giving birth and learn to advocate for your needs. I delivered with a doula and midwife and amazing team of nurses and was able to avoid an epidural with hypnobirth techniques.

I tell my story because so many women come to the hospital without the knowledge and tools to feel empowered during their births (even if things change along the way as of course babies don’t always go with the plan!) and it doesn’t have to be that way.
